SOUTH BALDWIN LITERACY COUNCIL

The South Baldwin Literacy Council hosted our annual car wash fundraiser at Tidal Wave Auto Spa in Foley. For every car that entered the car wash, 50% of proceeds directly funded literacy here in Baldwin County! In addition, we donated a variety of books to those who participated. Participants even entered to win a $200 Publix Gift Card! Overall, it was a successful day.

The South Baldwin Literacy Council's "English in Action" ESL class took a field trip to the Foley Public Library to finish up our "library" module. First, students learned vocabulary, common phrases, library etiquette, and more in the classroom. Then, we traveled to the library! Anna, the Children's Librarian, gave us a full tour and taught students about the many services that the Foley Public Library provides for community members. We are grateful for our partnership!

The South Baldwin Literacy Council visited the East Coast Migrant Head Start Project to read to the sweet students and send each of them home with their own book!

The South Baldwin Literacy Council is gearing up for another busy academic year. Dr. McCurdy, Matt Hurst, and various teachers and staff helped prepare our volunteer tutors for the upcoming year. We are excited to directly impact the lives of students in our community!
