The GED is an exam that tests a person's knowledge of high school level material in mathematics, science, social studies, and language arts. There are many meanings for the abbreviation GED, but the correct definition is the General Educational Development Test. This test consists of four separate exams that you can take in any order, or all at once, it’s up to you!

SOUTH BALDWIN LITERACY COUNCIL AND THE GED
Our program is like no other.
The South Baldwin Literacy Council’s Pre-GED Program is a self-paced, tutor-guided program designed to allow students to successfully complete their GED with personalized one-on-one help. Currently, the Pre-GED Program is only offered in-person. After students take an official practice test, our staff will evaluate their scores to determine if the student is eligible to be enrolled in our Pre-GED Program. Students are provided with ample resources to learn the skills needed to successfully prepare for the GED exam. After the completion of the Pre-GED Program, students will continue their journey by working on GED level materials. In addition, students have the opportunity to come to weekly study groups where tutors are available to assist as needed. Our GED tutoring services are completely FREE.
